Celebrating the 2024 Winter Athletic Season

Tihmily Li, Communications Officer
On March 5, we celebrated the many accomplishments of our athletes during the 2023-2024 Winter Athletics season. A highlight slideshow kicked things off highlighting many moments from the season, such as Hockey Day or Grade 12 Spotlight Games. With 19 CISAA teams and one Learn-to-Curl club, our Grizzlies prove to be the non-hibernating variety!

Participating athletes from each sport were called down to stand proudly before the community as we recognized the recipients of the MVP and Coach’s Award for their teams. Grade 12 athletes were also given special Grizzly socks or stickers in recognition of their leadership and dedication as Grizzlies.

The Greenwood swimmers were competing at OFSAA on the day of the assembly. The swim teams will be recognized in the upcoming Spring Athletics Assembly.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
