Giving to Greenwood

    • We encourage you to make a gift today that is meaningful for your family.

Your gift to Greenwood is an investment in creating independent thinkers who venture further in the world.
Greenwood was built on philanthropy, community, and volunteerism. Our school came to life in 2002 through the financial support of a number of generous founding families.

Today’s students are the beneficiaries of these incredible visionaries whose generosity and commitment created Greenwood College School.

Through gifts large and small from current and past parents, alumni, staff and grandfriends, Greenwood has been transformed from an idea to one of Canada’s most innovative schools. We are grateful for gifts to our annual giving priorities and our endowment and capital projects. Greenwood alumni speak often about how big an impact Greenwood had on their lives.

We thank our donors for carrying on the tradition of philanthropy that our founders established to ensure that our school can continue to be its very best for current and future students.

Thank you for considering a gift to Greenwood! If you have any questions or would like more information on giving opportunities, please contact us.

Why Give to Greenwood?
For many donors and their families, philanthropy is more than a financial transaction. Donors give for a multitude of reasons, including to:
  • give back and express gratitude, and/or
  • celebrate a milestone
  • create a legacy
  • set an example for others to follow
  • join with others to create something bigger than what they can accomplish alone
  • honour someone important in their life.

Philanthropic support makes the difference in the education our students receive.
While tuition covers the operating expenses, it is philanthropic support that makes the difference in the extras that make Greenwood so special:
  • Ensuring our technology and facilities remain state-of-the-art facilities;
  • Staying at the forefront of personalized learning strategies and techniques, including experiential learning and curriculum innovation;
  • Expanding our outdoor facilities and innovative programming;
  • Supporting and expanding our health and well-being programs;
  • Supporting our pluralistic culture and community;
  • Providing financial assistance to those who may require it;
  • Training for staff and students;
  • Professional development that keeps our teachers at the forefront and retains them here at Greenwood.
It feels good to give and is associated with better health.

Independent schools are stronger for the support of our community of parents/guardians, staff and alumni who invest in creating independent thinkers who venture further in the world. Proof of the school’s success lies in our growing 1,437-strong alumni community.

You can direct your gift to an area of importance to you and your family.
Giving is personal and we know that our community of donors have individual interests. Within our priority areas, there is something for everyone!

Whether our students learned creativity and cooperation in the arts, experienced their first leadership opportunities and teamwork on an Outdoor Education trip, developed political awareness, advocacy and debating skills through community engagement and service learning, or drew inspiration from a caring and committed staff member, they benefited directly from the generosity of our community. THANK YOU!
“Our family was new to Greenwood last year and we immediately made a financial commitment to the school. We felt great about contributing additional financial support as Greenwood is providing valuable experiences that are helping our daughter realize her true capabilities.”

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
