Leaving a legacy is a beautiful way of supporting the next generation, honouring one’s connection to a special place and/or people, thanking those who have come before and who will follow in the future. There can be a great joy taken knowing that your future support will make a difference to a place you care deeply about for years into the future.
A planned or legacy gift at Greenwood is a donation to Greenwood College School Foundation, arranged in the present to be made available for use in the future. Legacy gifts normally pass through your estate, and can help offset taxes.
Where does my legacy gift go?
All legacy gifts honour individual and family memories and connections and live on in perpetuity. All legacy gifts will be retained within the Greenwood College School Foundation and, unless otherwise specified, will be added to the school’s endowment, with your philanthropic wishes and capital preservation as first priorities.
How do I make a bequest to Greenwood College School?
With the help of a lawyer and/or estate planner, you can easily add a bequest to your existing will. You can choose to give a specific dollar amount, or a percentage of your estate. If you're not sure of your future circumstances, you can set up a contingency bequest, thereby ensuring that your spouse and/or family are provided for first. If you don't have a will, you may want to consider establishing one.
Donors who choose to include Greenwood in their estate plans will be recognized with membership in the Forever Green Circle. We are delighted to know of your intentions as early as you make them so that we can honour, recognize and celebrate your wonderful future support now.
