Well Wishes for the Holidays

As we approach the winter holiday, I am awed by how much our students have achieved since the school year began. In some ways, it feels like just yesterday that we all returned to school, ready to embrace a new school year. And yet, we have already accomplished so much – amazing academic achievements, a successful Junior Musical, countless games and tournaments, hours of service learning, and that’s just to name a few.

Within our school, we witness profound learning and connections, innovations and successes. We support each other through challenges, and celebrate wins and small victories together.

Throughout this year, we have seen our Greenwood community navigate challenges each day and cultivate spaces for community members to flourish. We have embraced and supported students, staff, and parents impacted by both local and global tragedies. We have welcomed new ideas and embraced growth in the face of technological advancements. As a school, we have taken pride in reflecting on our successes and challenges, and applying what we learn toward continual improvement.

As we approach the break, many of you will reflect on the year behind us, while others will contemplate the year ahead. Whatever and wherever your break takes you, I encourage you to set aside some time for yourself. Whether it's curling up with a good book, savouring a cup of hot chocolate, or immersing yourself in joy and comfort, do something that feeds your soul or fills your heart. I myself look forward to sharing meals and spending time outdoors with my family — and I can’t wait to get lost in a good book.

On behalf of all of us at Greenwood, I extend warm wishes for a joyful, restful and rejuvenating winter break.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and as settlers, we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
