The month of November has long been associated with Movember, a grassroots movement that began in 2003 and is now an internationally recognized organization that supports men’s health and well-being. Here at Greenwood, our school’s Jack Chapter and Athletics Committee organized many activities and initiatives to help promote active mindfulness and well-being for all.
The month kicked off with fun, destressing activities such as bracelet making, dancing, walking, dodgeball and trivia about men’s health. Later in the month, community grade groups had discussions about well-being. Additionally, students could make their own personal stress ball, colour in a colouring page or create a bracelet during Movember Mindful Munch at lunch. With shortened days in November, these activities help the school community keep their moods and spirits high while introducing new ways to stay mindful and active.
Thank you to the Athletics Committee and Jack Chapter for helping us to begin thoughtful conversations and teaching us ways to manage stress.
We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
