Creative exploration on Arts Day 2024

Arts Day is a beloved tradition here at Greenwood. Students get to explore new and creative outlets for self-expression in an action-packed day.

The day began with a fun Jr Greenwood Mic that had everyone up and active through a dance-along and sing-along. Then throughout the morning and early afternoon, students participated in various workshops including:
  • Suminagashi (Japanese paper marbling)
  • Various forms of dance (i.e. tap dance, stomp, hip-hop, First Nations hoop dancing, jazz and contemporary)
  • Acrobatics
  • Yogalates or yoga
  • Intuitive drawing
  • Origami
  • Improv
  • Percussion music
  • Hand-lettering
  • Musical theatre
Arts Day concluded with an interactive performance from Joaquín Núñez and the Rumberos that gave students a glimpse into the Cuban and Brazilian musical styles.

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
