Surpassing Limits at the Be Unlimited Conference

Tihmily Li, Communications Officer
On February 22, two teams represented Greenwood at the Be Unlimited Conference held at the University of Toronto. The event was sponsored by CPA Ontario and gave students in Grades 10 to 12 a competitive opportunity to hone their finance and accounting skills. Students signed up to participate in the competition.

Kennedy Gilchrist ‘25, Azra Jinnah ‘25 and Sophie Lamb ‘25 formed one team while Dillon Browning Rodriguez ‘25, Cameron Hepworth ‘25, Brendan St John ‘25 and Loukas Yantsulis ‘25 formed the other. Dillon, Cameron, Brendan and Loukas won second place at the competition. They credit their experiences in DECA and business class with preparing them for the case competition and public speaking. “We’re going back next year to get first place,” promises Cameron ‘25. The team later presented their award to Sarah Bruce, Principal.

The experience provided students with practical experience in developing their leadership, collaboration and communication skills. Students also had to find resourceful methods to resolve their case competition. “What Greenwood does really well is being on the forefront of technology and encouraging the use of tools like ChatGPT,” says Sophie ‘25. “I found it was very helpful for our team to brainstorm possible solutions.”

Great work and initiative to the teams!

We acknowledge with gratitude the Ancestral lands upon which our main campus is situated. These lands are the Ancestral territories of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Anishinabek and the Wendake. The shared responsibility of this land is honoured in the Dish with One Spoon Treaty and we strive to care for the land, the waters, and all creatures in the spirit of peace. We are responsible for respecting and supporting the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. When away from this campus we vow to be respectful to the land by protecting and honouring it. We will create relationships with the people and the land we may visit by understanding the territories we enter and the nations who inhabit them.
