Check in with your 2024-2025 Heads and Grade Reps

Your 2024-2025 Heads and Grade Reps share their highlights, achievements and goals for the rest of the school year.

Heads of Student Leadership: Charlie and Kylie

Hi, Greenwood community!

It is your Heads of Student Leadership here, Charlie and Kylie. Our highlight of the school year so far has been Fall OE. We enjoyed being Grade 12 leaders and getting to know the new Grade 7 & 9 students through community-building activities. The grad retreat was also extremely special as we watched our grade bond and build goals for our year ahead! This year, we have introduced Friday Afternoon Lights, are currently planning Battle of the Bands, have brought a ping-pong table to the lodge, and created a wellness room. We've also had the privilege to help the Grade Reps with their initiatives. Some include making ice cream sandwiches, hot chocolate bingo, and secret snowflakes.

In 2025, we are super excited for Spirit Week! Spirit Week is a fun week right before March Break, where each grade competes to win through fun activities and by creating a grade-wide lip sync that gets showcased at the end of the week. We are so grateful for the opportunity to be headship. We've been a part of the Greenwood community for the past 5 years and feel so lucky to have a leadership role for our final year.

Sincerely,

Charlie and Kylie

Grade 7: Asher and Rohan

Hi everyone,

Our highlight of the year as Grade 7 Reps was Election Day because we got to organize some snacks to bring in and share our speeches with our community.

Although our grade this year has yet to do much, we have a lot of upcoming fun, such as Secret Snowflake and a Grade 7/Grade 12 sports activity before the break. This will foster a bonding environment for our grade and other grades, bringing everybody closer than they already are.
As Grade Reps, being able to organize these kinds of events is a very special privilege but we are also proud of keeping our grades organized by sending weekly emails to keep them informed.

In the new year, we are looking forward to getting more initiatives going quicker and keeping school spirit as high as ever before. As Grade Reps, it is our job to plan activities that everybody is comfortable with participating in but also step out of your comfort zone with courage, curiosity, and nurturing an open mind and growth mindset. I believe we can keep this amazing momentum moving after the break, into 2025, and hopefully until we graduate.

Sincerely,
Your Grade 7 Representatives,
Asher and Rohan ‘30

Grade 8: Veronica and Alexa

Hello Greenwood!

We are Alexa and Veronica and our highlight so far this year was our Grade 8 hot chocolate social. We had lots of fun bonding with our grade, and playing a couple competitive rounds of bingo, as well as getting to festively decorate and drink hot chocolate!

In our role as Grade Reps, we have planned socials for our grade, and created bonding experiences that will set a foundation throughout our grade in Grades 8 and 9 so that we will all continue to thrive throughout the rest of our Greenwood years and graduate as a closer grade.

In 2025, we hope to be able to bring our grade closer and create more connections as a whole. We hope to have more initiatives that will allow our grade to bond and work closer together instead of being separate from one another. It has and continues to be a wonderful opportunity and experience to be grade representatives this year. We have had lots of fun bonding with our grade, as well as each other, and bringing new ideas to the table whether it be focused on Grade 8, or even Greenwood. We enjoy Monday mornings when we get to come up with these ideas, and create fun ways to bond and unite our grade. Overall, we are more than happy with our roles in the Greenwood community, and continue to strive to venture further with our grade.

Sincerely,
Your Grade 8 Representatives,
Veronica and Alexa ‘29

Grade 9: Chloe and Sammy

Hi there,

The highlight and achievement of the year so far for us as Grade Reps is the Ice Cream Social because it was a great way to connect the grade and have fun! There were games and food and everyone, including us, had a blast. Our goal for this was to connect the grade with all the new students. This was a success since everyone showed up and had fun! Weekly we send out emails to inform the grade of upcoming events to look out for! We are so happy with everything we have completed and can’t wait to do more.

In 2025, we hope to achieve more events to build connections in the grade! In March it is Spirit Week, which is a ton of fun for the grade! Many dress downs and fun activities! We hope to make sure that is a blast with the lip sync! We can hopefully plan two more events of the grades choosing. We hope we can bring to life what you envisioned for the best year. This means we make sure your concerns and hopes are met. We want to make sure that you all have an amazing year! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us!

Sincerely,
Your Grade 9 Representatives,
Chloe and Sammy ‘28

Grade 10: Sadie and Dylan

Hi everyone!

We are Sadie and Dylan, your Grade 10 representatives. Our highlight of the year so far is going on OE. We had a lot of fun with our groups. We were able to strengthen the relationships we already had, while also making new friends. It was so nice to spend time away from the city! The camping was a lot of fun and was definitely the highlight of the year so far.

We also hosted a social for our grade. This was a lot of fun, and made a lot of our grade come together at lunch and hangout in the same classroom. We are working on more initiatives to strengthen our community and the bond within our grade. We are looking forward to our grade coming closer together this year. We think that it is important we start bonding as one, and becoming less separate.

Being a Grade Rep is a really good way to connect with people your grade and you're able to feel a lot of pride through helping others. It’s nice to have the responsibility of being a welcoming face for your peers and it’s not an overload of work, which is nice.

Sincerely,
Your Grade 10 Representatives,
Dylan and Sadie ‘27

Grade 11: Daisy and Alice

Hello Greenwood community!

Our highlight of the year as Grade 11 reps was Halloweek. Walking into the building and seeing everyone’s creative costumes was extremely fun and even funny at times! We were able to connect more as a grade and overall have an extremely enjoyable week through the various activities that took place like pumpkin carving in the lodge and Halloween Bingo. Not to mention how fun it was writing our weekly Halloween-themed email. Halloween was definitely the highlight for not only us but also our grade!

So far, as grade representatives, we have had the honour of taking on various roles, including setting up fun activities for our grade. Some of these include Mario Kart with hot chocolate and Timbits during Community Time. As we constantly meet with Ms. Girvan to plan and set up our promised initiatives, we cannot wait to set up more fun activities for our grade, including skate day, Laser Tag, and Canada’s Wonderland. We are really looking forward to these activities and Winter OE! We’re ready to have a great year and make the most of it!

Sincerely,
Your Grade 11 Representatives,
Daisy and Alice ‘26

Grade 12: Ben, Alexa and Phoebe

Hey everyone!

As Grad Affairs, this school year our highlight so far was Halloween because of all of the fun events hosted, including pumpkin carving and Bingo. We enjoyed participating and supporting our peers who ran the events. Our greatest achievement was organizing the grade breakfast, where almost the entire grade came to enjoy burritos, muffins and fruit while we talked about Costa Rica and our grade values that we formulated at the Grad Retreat. We are looking forward to Costa Rica coming up after the break. We know our graduating class will have an amazing rest of the year and can’t wait to organize more events to bring us closer together.

Sincerely,
Your Grad Affairs Executives,
Ben, Alexa and Phoebe ‘25
