Drumroll please: 2024-2025 School Plays Reveal

Before we know it, the curtains will rise on this year’s Greenwood arts productions.

With much anticipation in the air, the shows were revealed at last week’s assembly.

“As you freeze in suspense and anticipation, get ready to melt in your seats and warm your hearts for Greenwood’s production of… can you guess it?” Ms. Konstantinova, interim Arts Coordinator, asked over a roaring drum roll. “Frozen Junior!”

Frozen Jr. follows princess sisters Elsa and Anna and our favourite Frozen characters as it explores themes of love and acceptance. The musical features songs from the film and Broadway stage show.

Auditions for this Grade 7, 8 and 9 production took place last week and the cast list will be posted to the Arts ON Tile. The musical is scheduled for November 21 and 22 in Greenwood’s Theatre. Thank you to directors Ms. Leo, Ms. Scott and Ms. Newman. We can’t wait for an icy adventure to Arendelle!

The senior play was also revealed at assembly, with auditions for students in Grades 10-12 taking place this week.

“Get ready to ‘shoe’ in on a fairy-tale adventure—this enchanted story is ‘heel’-arious and magical—it is sure to ‘sole’-fully captivate! Drum roll for the senior play reveal please!” Ms. K said. “67 Cinderellas!”

67 Cinderellas is a “humorous play that debunks ridiculous storybook notions of romance and what it means to be a princess.” (stageplay.com) It will take place January 15, 16 and  17, 2025. Thank you to directors Mr. Brown and Ms. King. 

Students were also informed of behind-the-scenes production opportunities, like hair and makeup, set, costumes, props and backstage crew. Thank you to all those getting involved in the shows, onstage or behind-the-scenes!
