Passionate, committed, knowledgeable, energetic and engaging, our teachers and staff have lived, taught and travelled widely around the world, and they bring their diverse backgrounds and life experiences to enrich life at Greenwood. Our student-focused approach ensures that students and teachers create the foundation for a strong rapport from the first day of school, and that these relationships are supported and strengthened over time.

The Greenwood Centre for Teaching and Learning provides our teachers with opportunities to gain skill in the specialized methodologies - such as authentic and ongoing assessment and new learning technologies - that are central to our mission.
All of our teachers are certified by the Ontario College of Teachers.

Executive Director, Greenwood Centre for Teaching, Learning & Research
As the Executive Director of the Greenwood Centre for Teaching, Learning and Research, Mary supports the development of, and celebrates, great teaching. Mary helps teachers to discover the knowledge and challenge they need to grow, and to find new ways to customize education; she also supports innovations that move the school's mission forward and develops research opportunities in the school and beyond. Throughout her career, Mary has been dedicated to building inclusive classrooms and school communities based on respecting individuals and working towards common goals, and she finds Greenwood's commitment to community, character and customization inspiring. Mary’s educational background includes a degree in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University, an Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate (Mediation) from OISE/Rotman School of Business and an Academic Coaching Certificate from Toronto’s Adler Institute. She is also Orton-Gillingham trained.
Kelly has served Greenwood College School since September 2002. Kelly manages the financial affairs of the school, as well as facilities and food services. Kelly also serves as one of the school’s Privacy Officers and as a member of the Leadership Team. Kelly is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has worked in the independent school system since 1985. She is also an active volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters North Durham and shares her competitive spirit playing lacrosse and softball.
Kerstine (Kash) Gilbert is Greenwood’s School Nurse. Feel free to call her Nurse Kash! She’s excited to meet everyone and her office door’s always open. Nurse Kash has spent a majority of her career at SickKids Hospital and prior to that, worked at Kingston General Hospital in the NICU, specializing in premature infant care. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Queen’s University. When Nurse Kash is off duty, she loves sailing, pottery, ceramics and exploring Algonquin.
Krista attended Brock University and is currently completing her Masters in Mathematics for Teachers (MMT) at the University of Waterloo. She has been teaching math and science for the past six years and has enjoyed a variety of opportunities teaching students both in Canada and while travelling abroad. At Greenwood, Krista works in both the Math and Science departments. Krista loves to travel as much as she can and started learning spanish last year. She also started taking sign language classes.
Julie (she/her) is Greenwood’s Director, Outdoor Learning and Coordinator, Student Leadership and House Program; she also teaches senior science courses. Julie comes to Greenwood from Royal St. George’s College, where she taught science for over 17 years. She brings with her over 10 years’ experience as RSGC’s Outdoor Education Coordinator in addition to recent experience as the school’s Student Leadership Coordinator, a role that involved working with Prefects and House Captains. She was also the Director of Camp Wapomeo, an all-girls’ summer camp in Algonquin Park, for three years.
Julie holds a BScH in Biology from Dalhousie University and a BEd from Queen’s. She has also completed her Honour Specialist in Biology and Part 1 of the Guidance and Career Education AQ Course. In her spare time, Julie loves camping, hiking and being outdoors, in addition to skiing and spending time with her family. She is really excited to be part of the Greenwood community!
Allison (Allie) is an adviser and English teacher at Greenwood College School this year; she also oversees the Jewish Culture Club and works in the arts on the school plays. Allie is a graduate of York University where she received her Bachelor of Education degree. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Drama Studies at Queen's University, where she was involved in many student productions as a Stage Manager, Producer, and Production Manager. In her free time, Allie enjoys theatre, hiking and baking.
Rachel joins Greenwood as a Business and Mathematics teacher. She has previously taught at The Rosedale Day School, Sterling Hall School and EduTravel. She has a Master of Teaching from UofT as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Los Angeles' Occidental College. Rachel also has a Specialist Additional Qualification (AQ) in Integration of Information and Computer Technology in the Classroom. In her spare time, Rachel enjoys travelling, reading and sewing clothing.
